WELCOME TO SIRGERI
This site is a small collection of things gathered over a long life:
stories remembered, places visited, faces encountered, moments noticed,
and photographs taken when words were insufficient — or unnecessary.
I trained as a surgeon.
I spent much of my working life teaching medicine.
But along the way, I learned that not everything worth remembering fits neatly into a case note or curriculum.
Some things ask to be written.
Some prefer to be photographed.
Some simply refuse to be forgotten.
This is a place for all of that.

Blog
These entries were written without any particular reader in mind, which may explain their tone.
They deal with people, places, conversations, and events that lingered - sometimes for reasons that only became clear much later. Accuracy has been pursued where convenient; storytelling has been prioritised where necessary.
No lessons are promised. A few observations may emerge unintentionally.

PHOTOGRAPHY
Photography appealed to me for the same reason medicine once did:
it rewards patience, attention, and restraint.
These images were taken without great technical ambition, but with curiosity and care.
They are offered simply — as moments noticed and preserved.

ABOUT SIRGERI
I was trained to observe carefully, think clearly, and act decisively.
Medicine has a way of teaching you those things — often whether you like it or not.
Over time, that habit of observation wandered beyond the operating theatre. I found myself paying attention to conversations, peculiar incidents, odd coincidences, and the quiet comedy of human behaviour - especially during my student years at the Faculty of Medicine, Colombo.
Later, travel, reading, photography, and an incurable fondness for storytelling joined the mix.
This site is not an autobiography.
It is closer to a scrapbook - one assembled late, imperfectly, and with no great urgency - but with affection.
If anything here raises a smile, stirs a memory, or invites a second look, it has done its job.
CONTACT
I am not difficult to reach — though I do not promise to reply with speed.
If you wish to comment, reminisce, disagree politely, or remind me of an episode I have forgotten, you are most welcome to do so.
